“Rotary is a global network of 1.2 million neighbors, friends, leaders, and problem-solvers who see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change – across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves.”

Rotary Club of Colombo South is a member of Rotary International. The club was chartered in 1978 in Colombo Sri Lanka.

Rotary International which was founded in 1905 is the world’s first service club organization. Its more than 1.2 million members worldwide volunteer their time and talent to further the Rotary motto ‘Service Above Self’. Members of Rotary clubs, known as Rotarians, provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world. There are over 35,000 Rotary clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas. Clubs are non political, nonreligious, and open to all cultures, races, and creeds. As signified by the motto Service Above Self, Rotary’s main objective is service — in the community, in the workplace, and throughout the world.

In Sri Lanka, there are seventy (70) Rotary clubs scattered all over the island with an accumulated membership of around 2000 members. Our club has been a leading Rotary club in Sri Lanka for the past several years and had the opportunity to carry out many humanitarian service projects in Sri Lanka.
